Just like the Chinese Boy, he is too young to learn not to run while holding a stick or any other sharp object. You cannot just simply say “no” at that age, instead, keep away all the dangerous things from your child. The couple were fortunate that their boy survived.

A young Chinese boy had to undergo brain surgery after a chopstick stuck in his nose while playing.
According to the doctors, the 14-month old accidentally fell on it, piercing his nose and lodging inside his skull. And it touched upon the deep area of his brain wherein, four centimeters of the chopstick was inside his skull. While, the position of the chopstick was very lucky for him.
The mother of the 14-month old boy, Zhao Guilu was in another room washing dishes when she heard her son, Li Jingchao, crying.
She rushed in and saw her boy was lying on the ground wailing then she noticed a chopstick stuck in his nose. She then rushed the child to a nearby medical clinic, but doctors feared it was too risky to remove the stick. Luckily, a relative offered to drive the the boy and his parents hundreds of miles to Beijing instead.
During the 10 hours of driving the mother felt depressed and could barely breathe, looking at his boy who’s right side was paralyzed.
When they arrived the Neurosurgeons in Beijing Dr. Sun Wei said the boy was lucky. He could have been permanently paralyzed or died if the stick has been a few millimeters to either side, or further in. During the brain surgery, the chopstick came out, without causing major bleeding.
