Market goers in Cagayan de Oro City filled with excitement over the freshest and biggest harvest pick in Cogon Market—a giant singkamas (yam bean, native turnip or jicama) weighing more than 10 kilograms.

The giant singkamas, which was bought from a supplier in Sultan Kudarat, weighed 10.6 kilos.

According to Minie, she has no plans of selling the singkamas no matter how much the buyer is offering to pay for it.

Department of Agriculture said, the weight of the Giant Singkamas in Cagayan de Oro City is half of Indonesia’s world record of having a singkamas (known in Indonesia as bengkuang) weighing 20 kilos.
