What is Shark Week- Shark Week is a week-long series on Discovery Channel featuring television programs dedicated to sharks. It is held annually, running in July or August.

Discovery’s Shark Week 2010
event kicks off with this premiere special, in which shark expert Chris Fallows and filmmaker Jeff Kurr are back in South Africa to use state-of-the-art technology, including an HD camera that shoots in superslow motion, to film massive great white sharks blasting from the water to pull a sneak attack on their seal prey.

Discovery Channel’s Shark Week celebrates its 23rd anniversary this Sunday with the “Ultimate Air Jaws” premiere at 9 PM.

Meanwhile, the Florida Aquarium in Tampa aims to prove that Sharks are not so scary, with informative talks during the week and crafts (shark puppets!) and activities (Shark Jeopardy!) on the weekend.
